Spring Nest: Spring Cleaning

As much as I love Spring it also comes with a few downsides;  namely spring cleaning. It’s like the dreary summer days are gone and it’s brighter outside, when you open up those curtains it reveals dust and who knows what else. It’s time to spring forward and spring clean!

First thing I would do is make a list of all the areas to clean and what to do. You know I love lists.

  1. Living Rooms & Dining Rooms
    • Dust every surface including crown molding and foot boards
    • Clean ceiling fans
    • Dust photos and frames
    • Deep clean rugs or carpet
    • Launder curtains
    • Steam clean sofas and chairs
    • Sweep and mop all floors
    • Clean all windows on both sides
    • Clean doors and knobs
    • Clean light switches and cover plates
  2. Kitchen
    • Wipe down back-splash
    • Clean counter tops
    • Clean refrigerator
    • Clean microwave
    • Clean oven/toaster over
    • Clean all appliances
    • Clean up refrigerator magnets
    • Run vinegar through the coffee maker to clean
    • Run a cleaning cycle through dishwasher
    • Sweep and mop floors
    • Throw out any broken or missing dishes or plastic containers
    • Throw out any expired or bad foods from pantry/refrigerator/freezer
    • Replace filters on any water dispensers
    • Clean out vent hood
    • Clean doors and knobs
    • Clean light switches and cover plates
    • Inspect all fire detector batteries/replace
    • Inspect fire extinguisher level/replace
  3. Bathrooms
      • Clean tubs and any soap scum
      • Replace shower liners
      • Clean shower head
      • Clean & disinfect toilet and nearby surfaces
      • Throw out any frayed towels
      • Wash shower curtain
      • Dust crown molding and foot boards
      • Clean mirror and any glass /windows
      • Wash rugs/towels/hand towels/curtains if any
      • Sweep/mop floorsReplace any light bulbsClean doors and knobsClean light switches and cover plates
  4. Bedrooms
    • Wash bedding/replace
    • Wash curtains
    • Wash/replace pillows
    • Dust ceiling fan
    • Dust all surfaces including base boards and crown molding
    • Dust dressers/night stands and all items
    • Clean mirrors/windows
    • Vacuum carpet/rugs
    • Clean out under bed
    • Donate any unused clothes/shoes/bags/jewelry
    • Clean doors and knobs
    • Clean light switches and cover plates
    • Inspect all fire detector batteries/replace
  5. Outdoors
    • Rake leaves
    • Replace broken pots
    • Throw out any dead plants
    • Clean up branches/debris
    • Clean mailbox
    • Power-wash exterior walls/drive-way/sidewalks/fence/siding
    • Clean out gutters
    • Apply fertilizer
    • Plant new flower beds/plants
    • Wash yard furniture
    • Clean welcome mat
    • Trim hedges/trees
    • Go through garage and throw away or donate unused items
    • Sweep garage
    • Replace any missing lights
    • Wash windows/doors
  6. Extras
    • I like to replace candles
    • Add flowers to most of the rooms

I think I covered most of it, if you have more let me know. The whole outdoor part I’m saving for my honey but we tag team most of it anyway.
